Scotland in 7 Days: Highlands, Castles & the Isle of Skye
By The Trip Window
Scotland is one of those rare destinations that exceeds every expectation. Wild, romantic, and steeped in history, a week here barely scratches the surface — but what a week it is.
Day 1–2: Edinburgh
Start in the capital. Edinburgh Castle dominates the skyline and the Royal Mile below it buzzes with life. Don't miss the underground vaults, Arthur's Seat, and a whisky tasting at the Scotch Whisky Experience.
Day 3: Stirling & the Highlands Entry
Stirling Castle rivals Edinburgh in grandeur and sees far fewer crowds. From here, the Highlands beckon. Drive north through Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
Day 4: Glencoe
One of the most dramatic landscapes in all of Europe. The valley of Glencoe is haunting, beautiful, and steeped in the history of the 1692 massacre. Hike the Devil's Staircase for panoramic views.
Day 5–6: Isle of Skye
Cross the Skye Bridge and enter another world. The Fairy Pools, the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, and the dramatic Neist Point lighthouse are all must-visits. Stay in Portree for the colourful harbour views.
Day 7: Loch Ness & Inverness
Monster or no monster, Loch Ness is undeniably beautiful. Urquhart Castle on its western bank is one of Scotland's most photogenic ruins. Finish in Inverness for a farewell dram of single malt.
